Michael Douglas Reveals a 40-Year-Old Secret About His Romance with Kathleen Turner
Michael Douglas has publicly confirmed for the first time that he had an affair with Kathleen Turner during the filming of *Romance with a Stone* in 1984. According to the actor, their relationship remained a secret for decades.
In his new memoir, Douglas recounted that a strong mutual attraction developed immediately between him and Turner. At the time, the actor was technically married to Diandra Douglas, although the couple was already living apart.
According to Douglas, the romance began while they were working in Mexico and was not a brief fling. The actor noted that they truly fell in love with each other, but for 40 years they publicly attributed their closeness solely to strong on-screen chemistry.
The relationship ended after Douglas’s wife and their son Cameron arrived in Mexico. Following a conversation between Diandra and Turner, the actor decided to return to his wife for the sake of his son. At the same time, he acknowledged that after that, their marriage was never the same as before.
Despite the end of their romance, Douglas and Turner continued to work together. They starred in the films *The Jewel of the Nile* and *The War of the Roses*, and also collaborated on the series *The Kominsky Method*.
The actor noted that he and Turner remain friends. Before publishing the story in his memoir, he also asked her permission to discuss their relationship.
