The National Bank of Ukraine issued a silver coin in honor of Ukraine's defenders
On October 1, the National Bank of Ukraine put a new commemorative coin, “Under the Shield,” dedicated to the defenders of Ukraine, into circulation. Its face value is 10 hryvnias.
The coin is made of 925-fine silver and weighs 31.1 grams. The mintage is up to 10,000 pieces.
The reverse depicts a Cossack with a shield and saber and a Ukrainian guardian woman holding a falcon. The composition is complemented by buildings from various eras—ranging from a traditional Ukrainian hut to modern high-rises.

The figures of the Cossack and the guardian are enveloped in a stylized fabric with a pixelated camouflage pattern. The overall design is reminiscent of the Ukrainian trident.
The obverse features an image of the Berehynia, symbolizing the Intercession, spiritual protection, the unity of generations, and the continuity of the Ukrainian people.
The coin will be available for purchase at the NBU’s online numismatic store and through participating banks.
