Polish tennis player Maja Chwalińska and Czech player Nikola Bartunkova ended their doubles campaign at the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing, China, losing 2:6, 1:6 to Kateřina Siniaková and Zhang Shuai. The match lasted 57 minutes, Interia Sport reports.

A strong start and ten games for the opponents

Chwalińska and Bartunkova won the first two games of the match. In particular, the Polish-Czech pair won the decisive point on Zhang Shuai's serve. After that, Siniaková and Zhang seized the initiative and won the next ten games.

In the first set, the key moment was a break of Bartunkova's serve at 3:2 in favour of the favourites. Later, Siniaková and Zhang broke Chwalińska's serve once again, although the Polish player was leading 40:15. The top-seeded duo closed out the first set 6:2.

Siniaková and Zhang were the top seeds

In the second set, Siniaková and Zhang took a 4:0 lead. Chwalińska and Bartunkova stopped their opponents' run by winning a game on Bartunkova's serve, but it was their last game of the match.

Kateřina Siniaková leads the WTA doubles rankings and, together with China's Zhang Shuai, received the top seed in Beijing. For Chwalińska, the doubles competition continued her debut appearance at the tournament in the Chinese capital after a singles loss to Dayana Yastremska. According to Interia Sport, despite her doubles elimination, Chwalińska is expected to rise by more than 50 positions in the WTA doubles rankings, into the middle of the second hundred.
