Tennis player Hurkacz withdraws from Beijing semifinal due to injury — Interia Sport
Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz withdrew from the semifinal match of the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing, China, against Australian Alex de Minaur. The match was stopped with de Minaur leading 6:4, 3:2 and 40:0.
As Interia Sport reports, Hurkacz experienced increasing problems moving around the court during the match. Journalist Michał Chojęcki, citing the tennis player's team, said that a thigh muscle strain was the reason for his withdrawal from the match.
Road to the semifinal
Before the match against de Minaur, Hurkacz defeated Learner Tien, Arthur Gea and Karen Khachanov in Beijing. For reaching the semifinal, he received 190 ranking points and, according to the outlet, is set to rise five places to 34th in the ATP rankings.

For his performance in Beijing, Hurkacz earned $219,925 in prize money, which the outlet estimates at approximately 875,700 zlotys.
Results in China
Before the tournament in Beijing, Hurkacz reached the final of the ATP 250 event in Chengdu. There, he defeated Alexander Shevchenko, Martin Damm, Lloyd Harris and Denis Shapovalov, but lost to Spain's Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the final, 4:6, 6:7 (7).
For his performance in Chengdu, the Pole received $107,375. In total, his prize money for the two tournaments in China amounted to $327,300. Hurkacz arrived for the Asian series as the world No. 46.
