In the Rivne region, 30,000 hectares of land in a military town were taken from hunters
The Commercial Court of Rivne Oblast invalidated a contract for the management of a hunting reserve covering 30,000 hectares of land within a military town and ordered the organization to vacate the land.
The land in question is located within the Malolyubashansky Village Council in Rivne District and is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense.
In 2011, the Rivne Regional Council transferred these lands to the Rivne garrison branch of the Society of Military Hunters and Fishermen of the Western Region of Ukraine for use for a period of 25 years. A year later, the parties entered into an agreement on the management of hunting grounds.
In 2023, the court had already ruled that the regional council’s decision to transfer these lands was unlawful. However, the agreement signed in 2012 remained in effect, so the court has now declared it invalid as well.
The court noted that the law does not permit the management of hunting grounds on defense lands, which are subject to a special regime of use and have a different designated purpose.
