MP Davydiuk Proposed Moving the Rada to the Subway

MP Davydiuk Proposed Moving the Rada to the Subway

A bill is being drafted in parliament to move Verkhovna Rada sessions to shelters; however, MP and political analyst Mykola Davydiuk has proposed an alternative initiative—holding sessions in the subway at night.

According to the lawmaker, inactive stations—such as “Lvivska Brama” or “Telichka”—could be used as a temporary office during hours when trains are not running. At the same time, moving sessions to any shelter requires amending the rules of procedure and updating the electronic voting system, issues on which discussions among the parliamentary factions are still ongoing.

The MP discussed this on the “CE BAZA” podcast.

As a reminder, despite a backlog of important, unpassed laws, the Verkhovna Rada suspended its plenary sessions for as long as 26 days—from September 17 to October 13, 2026. At the same time, according to the press service of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat, this is by no means a vacation—the deputies, they say, are participating in the work of committees, working groups, temporary investigative commissions, and special commissions during this time.

MP Kostyuk criticized the Rada for taking a “vacation” and posted a photo from a water park in Bukovel.

The Cabinet of Ministers is asking the Verkhovna Rada to hold an additional plenary session on October 12, although deputies are scheduled to return to the session hall on October 13 following the recess.
