A law enforcement officer and his brother will stand trial in Kropyvnytskyi for selling weapons

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigations, as part of a special operation “Stop Trafficking,” have completed a pretrial investigation and filed an indictment against a former law enforcement officer and his brother, who organized the illegal trade in weapons and ammunition in Kropyvnytskyi.

The official established the distribution network in March 2026, using his official ID as a cover while transporting the arsenal, while his brother sought out buyers.

Law enforcement officers documented three incidents of weapons sales totaling 1 million hryvnia (approximately 24,000 U.S. dollars). In June, the brothers were caught red-handed, and during searches, an arsenal of ammunition and passports belonging to a Russian citizen and a citizen of the so-called “LNR” were seized from them. The suspect has already been dismissed from service, and both face charges under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigations.

In the Sumy region, during an operation, SBI officers discovered a cache of ammunition set up by Russian military personnel near the border. It contained nearly forty anti-tank mines and 10 homemade explosive devices.

In the Chernihiv region, border guards and police officers discovered a cache of ammunition in an uninhabited building in one of the villages. Serviceable ammunition will be handed over to the Defense Forces, while unserviceable ammunition will be destroyed.
