Ukraine has rejected the Australian Eurocopter Tiger attack helicopters
Although the possibility of transferring Eurocopter Tiger attack helicopters from Australia to Ukraine has been under discussion for several years, it appears that this matter has been definitively closed. In Australia, these helicopters are being phased out and replaced with AH-64E Apaches.
Ukraine has withdrawn its request to receive Eurocopter Tiger attack helicopters from Australia, which is currently phasing them out and replacing them with AH-64E Apaches. Vasyl Myroshnychenko, Ukraine’s ambassador to Australia, told Defense Express about this.
Defense Express has learned from its own sources that the decision was made after considering a range of factors. These included the cost per flight hour, the availability of spare parts, the technical condition of the helicopters, and questions regarding the expected configuration.

In other words, although Australia was prepared to transfer the Tiger helicopters, Ukraine decided it would be better to consider other options for strengthening its army aviation fleet. And this decision makes sense when weighing the capabilities and needs.
Although the equipment is provided free of charge as part of military aid, it must still be operated, serviced, and maintained in a combat-ready condition. It is also necessary to train personnel—such as pilots and technical staff—who will work with the helicopters.

Therefore, it makes sense to select helicopters that better meet the needs and capabilities of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. There is no point in having aircraft and equipment if they are simply sitting idle at the base and cannot carry out combat missions, so the selection process must be approached comprehensively.
In Australia, the Tiger is being phased out precisely because of its high operating costs and problems with maintaining operational readiness. Similar problems with these helicopters have arisen in Germany, where they were grounded for some time, leading to a decision to decommission them as well.
