25 dead and 100 wounded — the aftermath of a massive Russian attack

As a result of Russia’s massive combined strike on Ukraine on October 7, 25 people were killed and another 100 were wounded. The highest number of casualties was recorded in Pryluky, where a Russian Kh-101 missile struck a residential building directly—19 people were killed there, including five children.

Rescue workers spent the entire day clearing debris following the strike on Pryluky. A Russian X-101 missile struck a residential building directly. “We spent the entire day today clearing debris following the Russian missile strike in Pryluky. An X-101 missile. A direct hit on the building. Unfortunately, 19 people were killed, including five young children,” Zelenskyy said. The president expressed his condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. According to him, the total number of casualties from the massive attack on Ukraine has risen to 25. Another 100 people were injured.

Russia used missiles and “Shaheds”

Zelenskyy noted that the attack was a combined assault. Russian forces used various types of weapons, including ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as “Shahed” strike drones. “The strike was a combined one—lots of ballistic missiles, lots of cruise missiles, and ‘Shahed’ drones,” the president said. According to him, Russian attacks continued throughout the day. Russia again launched “Shahed” drones and dropped aerial bombs.

Thus, following the massive nighttime strike, the threat to Ukrainian cities did not cease. Russian forces continued to use drones and aerial munitions.

Zelenskyy called on the world not to remain silent

The president specifically emphasized the international community’s response. He said it is important that world leaders not remain silent in the wake of such attacks. Zelenskyy also stated that any easing of sanctions against Russia could be perceived as a signal to normalize the war. “Putin can still sell oil and calculate the situation in dollars and euros in a way that remains profitable for him. It is in his interest to wage war,” the president said.

He added that, in his view, the war has become part of the Russian leadership’s politics and ideology. “War is his nature, his ideology. And this is not just Ukraine’s problem—it’s not just ours, not just our people’s and our children’s. It is a problem for everyone in Europe and the Western world,” Zelenskyy stated.

The president emphasized that the events in Ukraine should serve as a warning to other countries. According to him, Russia may view the current war as an opportunity to test what it is allowed to do without a sufficiently strong international response. “What is happening in Ukraine is a rehearsal for what Russia wants to reserve for itself as an option to use against any country,” Zelenskyy said.

Ukrainian rescue workers are currently continuing to work at the sites of the strikes and clear the rubble. Final figures on the dead and injured may change as search and rescue operations are completed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy provided an update on the consequences of the Russian attack in an evening video address.

As a reminder, at least two people were killed in Kyiv as a result of the nighttime attack.

Russia struck Zaporizhzhia’s transportation infrastructure.

Russia also struck Dnipro with ballistic missiles, damaging a facility.
