Russia failed to achieve its objectives in the Huliaipole and Orikhiv sectors

Russia failed to achieve its objectives in the Huliaipole and Orikhiv sectors

Russian troops failed to complete the missions they were assigned for September in the Huliaipole and Orikhiv sectors. Despite this, based on reports of an allegedly successful advance, the Russian command set new, even more ambitious goals for the troops for October.

Russian troops do indeed have serious plans for October. At the same time, the occupiers have still not completed some of the objectives that the Russian command set for them back in September. “In the Huliaipole and Orikhiv sectors, the Russian invaders do indeed have ambitious plans for October, but in reality, the enemy has not completed the tasks set for September,” the spokesperson said.

At the same time, she noted, some Russian units are reporting to their command about the alleged capture of settlements and advances. In reality, the situation on the ground does not confirm this. Because of such reports, the Russian command continues to set new objectives for its troops. Moreover, these objectives are becoming increasingly ambitious.

In particular, Russian airborne units have been tasked with reaching the defensive line along the Kinska River by the end of October. “At the same time, the enemy has not fulfilled the objective of capturing certain settlements, which was set for September,” Shevchenko emphasized.

The Huliaipole sector remains the hottest

The spokesperson noted that the most tense situation is currently observed in the Huliaipole sector. There, Ukrainian forces are holding back one of the largest Russian army groupings. According to Shevchenko, this force is composed of units from several of the Russian Federation’s combined-arms armies. At the same time, the Russians have changed their tactics and are no longer attempting to advance across a broad front.

Instead, the occupiers are using infiltration tactics. This involves attempts by small groups to seep into Ukrainian positions and establish a foothold there. Russian troops also periodically attempt to carry out assaults with small groups. To do so, they use, among other things, motorcycles and ATVs.

According to the spokesperson, such attacks are unsuccessful. “In addition, the enemy periodically attempts to carry out assaults with small assault groups supported by motorcycles and ATVs. These attempts are unsuccessful,” Shevchenko said.

What’s Happening Near Orikhiv

Russian troops are also continuing their offensive operations in the Orikhiv sector. However, even there, Ukrainian forces have not yet observed any significant enemy advances toward designated lines. Russia has not abandoned its plans to capture Orikhiv and continues to view this sector as crucial for further movement toward Zaporizhzhia. “It is worth noting that the enemy has not abandoned its intentions to capture Orikhiv and Zaporizhzhia, but at this time does not have sufficient forces and resources to advance directly toward the regional center,” Shevchenko noted.

In other words, Russian troops are currently continuing to apply pressure in this direction, but according to Ukrainian assessments, they lack the necessary capabilities for a direct advance on Zaporizhzhia. At the same time, the Defense Forces expect the Russians to continue their offensive operations throughout October. Their goal is to try to reach the line set by their command by the end of the month.

What losses did the Russians suffer in September?

Shevchenko also spoke about the losses of the Russian army in the operational zone of the “South” Group of Forces. According to her, in September alone, the Ukrainian military eliminated more than 4,900 Russian occupiers. Additionally, 2,070 pieces of Russian weaponry and military equipment were destroyed. “In the operational zone of the ‘South’ Military Group, Russian invaders continue to suffer significant losses in manpower. In September, units of the “South” military group eliminated more than 4,900 occupiers and 2,070 pieces of weaponry and military equipment,” the spokesperson emphasized.

Thus, Russian troops continue their offensive operations in the Huliaipole and Orikhiv sectors but have not achieved the objectives set for September. At the same time, the Russian command has already set new objectives for October and will likely attempt to achieve them despite resistance from the Ukrainian military. Overall, according to the spokesperson’s assessment, the operational situation in the area of responsibility of the “South” Military Group (Forces) remains largely unchanged at this time. This was reported by Anastasia Shevchenko, spokesperson for the “South” Military Group (Forces).

Today, October 6, Russia launched a series of strikes on a highway in the Odesa region. The attack damaged trucks and passenger cars, and there were casualties.

On the morning of October 6, Russian troops attacked Sumy with strike drones. One of the enemy drones struck a 10-story residential building, injuring two people, including a 16-year-old boy.
