The SBU struck an airfield in Adygea and took out two fighter jets

Drones belonging to the Security Service of Ukraine attacked the “Khanska” military airfield in the Republic of Adygea in Russia. According to the SBU, the drones struck two Russian fighter jets—a Su-35 and a Su-34—as well as an ammunition depot. The distance from Ukraine to the target, according to the agency, is about 500 kilometers.

The Security Service of Ukraine announced an attack on the Russian military airfield “Khanskaya” in the Republic of Adygea. According to the agency, the strike took place at night. The SBU noted that drones from the “Alpha” Special Operations Center were deployed in the operation. They struck two Russian aircraft—a Su-35 multi-role fighter and a Su-34 fighter-bomber. “Last night, the Security Service of Ukraine successfully attacked the ‘Khanska’ military airfield in the Republic of Adygea, Russian Federation. The distance to the target was approximately 500 km,” the SBU reported.

The first target was the Su-35. This is a multi-role fighter that the SBU describes as one of Russia’s most advanced combat aircraft. According to the agency, its export value is approximately $100 million. The drones also struck a Su-34. This is a fighter-bomber that Russia uses as part of its tactical aviation. According to the SBU’s estimate, its export value is approximately $50 million.

Russian forces use both types of aircraft for combat missions, particularly for delivering guided aerial bombs. It is precisely these guided aerial bombs that Russia regularly uses to strike Ukrainian positions and populated areas. In addition to the two aircraft, an ammunition depot on the military airfield was also struck. The SBU has not yet disclosed any further details of the operation. Thus, according to the Ukrainian security service, two Russian combat aircraft and an ammunition depot were struck in a single attack.

The “Khanska” airfield is located near Maykop in Adygea. The SBU has previously reported on operations at this facility. In particular, the agency previously stated that two Su-35s, two L-39 training aircraft, a fuel and lubricants depot, and other infrastructure had been destroyed there. Currently, information regarding the results of the new attack is based on the SBU’s report. There is no independent confirmation of the reported losses of Russian aircraft in open sources at this time. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

On the night of October 4, Russian forces launched 135 drones into Ukrainian territory, including “Shahed,” “Gerbera,” “Banderole”/“Dan-T,” and decoy drones.

On the morning of October 4, Russian forces struck downtown Dnipro, hitting the premises of a telecommunications company.

In the Dnipro district of the capital, debris from enemy drones was reported to have fallen at two locations on the morning of October 4. This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
