Attack on Hroza, in which 59 people were killed: the case against the seven defendants has been referred to court

The case involving the missile strike on the “Sputnik” café in the village of Groza in the Kharkiv region has been referred to court. Seven defendants will stand trial—two local brothers who, according to the investigation, provided the coordinates, and five Russian commanders.

The case was investigated for about three years. Investigators conducted more than 270 forensic examinations and 3D scans, analyzed the missile debris, reconstructed its flight path, and identified those involved in the strike.

According to the investigation, seven people were involved in planning and carrying out the missile strike—two civilian spotters and five Russian military commanders.

“The coordinates of the civilian facility and the exact time of the memorial lunch were passed on to the enemy by two brothers who had previously lived in Hroza. They voluntarily collaborated with the occupiers during the capture of the village of Shevchenkove in the Kupiansk district and later fled to Russia. They have been notified of the charges against them,” the statement reads.

Earlier, five Russian military personnel were charged in connection with an attack on a café in Groza.

As a reminder, the Kharkiv region plans to implement a mandatory evacuation of children from a number of settlements due to the deteriorating security situation. Local residents are advised not to delay and to leave immediately.

The Chernihiv Regional Defense Council, at the request of the military command, decided to implement a mandatory evacuation of the population from twelve border villages starting July 1. This was reported by Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration.
