In the border communities of Sumy Oblast, where a mandatory evacuation has been declared, 121 civilians have been killed since the beginning of 2026 as a result of shelling by Russian forces. In particular, on October 6, the body of a person who had been killed the day before by yet another Russian strike was evacuated from the Sveska community in the Shostka district.
The highest number of civilian deaths occurred in the settlements of the Seredyna-Budsk, Krasnopil, Velyka Pysarivka, Mykolaivska Rural, Bilopil, and Hlukhiv communities in the Shostka and Sumy districts. Despite the constant threat to their lives, more than 34,000 civilians, including 436 children, remain in the mandatory evacuation zones.
This was reported by Oleg Grigorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
As a reminder, at least two people were killed in Kyiv as a result of a nighttime attack.
Russia struck Zaporizhzhia’s transportation infrastructure.
Russia also struck Dnipro with ballistic missiles, damaging a facility.
