The Ukrainian Armed Forces cleared a section of forest near Vovchansk of Russian troops — ISW
Ukrainian forces cleared the area east of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region. According to the ISW, the Ukrainian Defense Forces drove Russian troops out of the area.
A Ukrainian brigade fighting in northern Kharkiv Oblast stated that troops had liberated approximately 10 square kilometers of forest northeast of Vovchanskiy Khutory.
The brigade reported that since June 10, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed or driven out three groups of Russian troops that had infiltrated the area.
The ISW notes that the Russians managed to infiltrate other parts of this area. Geolocated imagery indicates a possible enemy advance in the northeastern part of Vovchansk. The Russians may also have advanced north of Vovchansk Khutory and north of Zybine.
The situation in this direction remains fluid: Ukrainian forces are counterattacking and clearing specific areas, while Russian forces continue to attempt to penetrate the territory.
Separately, the ISW reports that on October 5, Russian troops continued to advance toward Velykyi Burluk. Analysts did not observe any confirmed advances.
As a reminder, Russia struck a residential building in Zaporizhzhia, resulting in casualties.
