Danish intelligence reports Russian sabotage against defense companies — The Moscow Times

Denmark’s Security and Intelligence Service (PET) stated that the Russian Federation, an aggressor state, has launched sabotage operations against Danish companies supplying products to Ukraine. PET’s lead analyst, Josefine Kristensen, said this at a conference on internal security in Copenhagen, The Moscow Times reports.

Targets linked to the front line

According to Kristensen, the Russian side did a great deal of planning in the spring, but few operations were carried out. At the beginning of summer, in her assessment, the number of implemented actions increased significantly.

The analyst said Moscow had concluded that its previous broad attempts to disrupt operations had not deterred NATO’s military support for Ukraine. Russian operations are now being directed, she said, at facilities that can directly affect the situation at the front line, including weapons production.

Kristensen also mentioned a list published in April by the Russian Ministry of Defense naming European manufacturers of drones and their components that Moscow described as potential military targets.

Recruitment through social media

PET has reported that Russia is increasingly using untrained intermediaries recruited through Telegram and other social media platforms. According to the service, they may include homeless people and people with drug addiction. They may initially be assigned simple tasks, including surveillance or photography, and later involved in sabotage.

The Russian Embassy in Copenhagen rejected the allegations, calling them unfounded. Last month, Danish military intelligence also warned that Russia would likely intensify hybrid attacks against the West in the coming months.

In September 2025, ahead of the EU summit in Denmark, drones disrupted air traffic at six Danish airports, including Copenhagen Airport. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen then called it a hybrid attack on the country.
