Poland to conduct military qualification for 245,000 people in 2027 — RMF24
In Poland, military qualification in 2027 will cover around 245,000 people. It will be announced on January 15, while commissions will operate from February 1 to April 30. The procedure does not mean automatic conscription into the military: it determines a person’s fitness for military service and updates registration data, RMF24 reports.
Who will be subject to qualification
The main group will be men born in 2008, who will turn 19 in 2027. Men born between 2003 and 2007 may also receive a summons if they have not yet been assigned a fitness category for active military service.
The summons also applies to people who were temporarily found unfit in 2025–2026 if the validity of that decision expires before the qualification is completed. This category also includes people who have applied to change their category in cases provided by law, as well as adult volunteers.
People may undergo qualification until the end of the calendar year in which they turn 60 if they have not settled their status regarding military service, do not have an assigned fitness category, and apply for the procedure themselves.

Conditions for women and examination results
The qualification may apply to women born between 2000 and 2008 who have specialties useful to the military or are obtaining them and will complete their studies in the 2026/2027 school or academic year. These include, in particular, medical, veterinary, aviation and maritime professions, as well as psychologists, rehabilitation specialists, radiologists, laboratory diagnosticians, IT and telecommunications specialists, navigators and interpreters. This is not a general obligation for all women of the relevant age.
During qualification, medical and psychological examinations are conducted, and if necessary, people may be referred for additional specialized tests or inpatient observation. The commission assigns one of the categories: A — fit for active service, B — temporarily unfit, D — unfit in peacetime with stipulated exceptions, E — completely and permanently unfit.
Failure to appear and documents
People who have been summoned must bring an identity document, medical records, documents on education and professional qualifications, as well as a current 3×4 cm photograph. In the event of a valid reason for failing to appear, the local authorities must be notified as soon as possible; they may set another date.
Unjustified failure to appear may result in a coercive fine or forced delivery by police. Separate liability is provided for refusing an examination or failing to provide the required documents. At the same time, general compulsory conscript military service in Poland remains suspended.
