Propagandist Kalashnikov warned of the collapse of Russia's economy in 2027

Propagandist Kalashnikov warned of the collapse of Russia's economy in 2027

Russian Z-propagandist Maxim Kalashnikov stated that the continuation of the war could lead to serious problems for Russia as early as 2027. According to him, the Russian economy could begin to collapse if hostilities continue.

Kalashnikov also warned of possible disruptions to electricity and water supplies in Russia, including even in Moscow.

“Moscow could also face blackouts and disruptions to the water supply, among other things. You understand, nothing good will come of it,” the propagandist said.

According to Maxim Kalashnikov, the war is entering a decisive stage, and claims circulating in Russia that the country is supposedly capable of waging war for decades to come do not reflect the reality of the situation.

The propagandist urged people not to believe claims that Russia could continue the war for the next 20 years.

“Come on, all this nonsense about us being able to fight for 20 years… No, we can’t. It’s already clear that we’re at the end of the road. If we keep fighting, the economy will collapse in 2027. You won’t bring victory closer—you’ll push it further away,” Kalashnikov said.

Thus, even a representative of Russian propaganda acknowledged that prolonging the war could have critical consequences for the Russian economy, and that rather than bringing the victory touted by the Russian authorities closer, continuing hostilities could push it further away.

Against the backdrop of rising military spending, Russian regions are forced to cut funding for key social programs in order to redirect funds toward payments to military personnel and their families.

Earlier, the St. Petersburg authorities proposed a significant revision of the city’s 2026 budget expenditures. The draft amendments have been sent for review. According to the document, the budget’s expenditure side could be cut by 70.2 billion rubles—to 1.58 trillion rubles.

As a reminder, in Russia—an aggressor state—President Vladimir Putin signed a decree setting the authorized strength of the armed forces at 2,441,630 personnel.

Russia, as an aggressor state, plans to allocate 17.1 trillion rubles to defense in 2027. This is approximately 27% more than the initially planned 13.5 trillion rubles and represents the highest figure since the start of Russia’s war against Ukraine in 2022.
