Trump said he supported Polish President Nawrocki — Interia

US President Donald Trump, responding to journalists before departing for Texas to a question about reports of his alleged support for a change of government in Poland, said that he loves Poles. He also called Polish President Karol Nawrocki a great friend of his and said that he supported him.

Trump's response

As Interia reports, the Polish Press Agency noted that it was unclear whether Trump correctly understood the question about the political situation in Poland.

On Monday, Trump also spoke positively about Nawrocki. Answering a question about a US military base in Poland, he said that he likes the Polish president very much and had supported him. Trump also said that Nawrocki had won a significant victory.

Conversation with Poland's defense minister

TV Republika reported that during a March conversation with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Trump allegedly expressed interest in changing Poland's prime minister. According to the channel, the conversation was arranged by Adam Bielan, a member of the European Parliament from the Law and Justice party, and employees of the Chancellery of the President of Poland.

Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that the conversation at the White House concerned defense issues, but not a US military base in Poland. Bielan, for his part, claimed that it was intended to help unblock negotiations on the base. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the conversation was more likely about the country's internal situation.
