8,547 energy park systems found accessible online in Europe — Channel NewsAsia
In The Hague, Netherlands, Dutch researchers reported 8,547 solar and wind power plant systems in 35 European countries that were accessible from the internet. Some of these systems contained administrative pages, login screens and operational interfaces with data and control elements, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Possibility of stopping turbines
Researchers Soufian El Yadmani of Modat and Bouke van Laethem of the Netherlands’ National Cyber Security Centre presented the findings at the ONE Conference on October 6. In their assessment, full control over the systems could potentially have been possible at approximately 181 sites.
On the webpage of one wind turbine, the researchers saw real-time data, start, stop and reboot buttons, as well as the location of the installation. Some of the identified systems controlled several turbines or an entire wind farm. The researchers urged operators to immediately remove administrative interfaces from open internet access.

Most exposed systems
Using machine learning to sort and group data, the specialists linked 7,942 internet-accessible systems to solar parks and 605 to wind parks. Most of them were administrative pages with login screens.
The largest number of such systems at solar facilities was found in Spain — 2,766, followed by Greece with 1,860. Germany recorded 672 internet-accessible solar energy systems, as well as the largest number of systems at wind facilities — 212. In Italy, 192 such wind energy systems were identified. The researchers noted that the country ranking was partly influenced by where they were able to link systems to specific facilities.
The report also mentions an analysis by the Polish team CERT Polska of an attack in December 2025 on 30 wind and solar facilities in Poland as an example of a potential threat.
