Lady A singer Charles Kelley announces blood cancer diagnosis — Rolling Stone
Charles Kelley, vocalist of the country trio Lady A, said he has been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer — multiple myeloma. The singer spoke about it in a video published on his wife Cassie Kelley's Instagram, Rolling Stone reports.
Diagnosis after medical examination
Kelley went to a doctor because of rib fractures. He then underwent a series of blood tests that detected the disease. The singer said he feels healthy and that treatment options and patients' life expectancy have changed significantly in recent years. He also noted that he has a friend with the same diagnosis.
The musician added that speaking openly about the illness helps him cope with his emotions. He linked this to his experience of publicly discussing his journey to sobriety and expressed confidence that he will be able to undergo treatment.

Treatment and music plans
Kelley plans to continue working on music projects during the first six months of treatment, although he expects difficult days. His plans include a new Lady A album, Christmas concerts and the Y’all Aboard yacht rock radio show on SiriusXM. According to the singer, it is important for him to do what he loves and spend as much time as possible with his family.
Lady A — Grammy winners consisting of Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood — are set to begin the This Winter’s Night Tour in December.
