Jaguar unveils 1,016-hp electric Type 01 — Motor1
Jaguar has unveiled the electric four-seat Type 01 grand tourer, which the company calls the most powerful road car in its history. As Motor1 reports, the model received three electric motors: one on the front axle and two on the rear axle. Their combined output is 1,016 horsepower and 1,007 lb-ft of torque, or approximately 1,365 Nm.
According to Jaguar, the Type 01 accelerates from 0 to 62 mph, or approximately 100 km/h, in 3.2 seconds and has a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution. The electric car is built on an 850-volt architecture and equipped with a 118-kWh battery. The manufacturer claims a range of up to 450 miles, or about 724 km, under the WLTP cycle and up to 320 miles, or approximately 515 km, during sustained motorway driving.
Suspension and aerodynamics
The model has a front double-wishbone suspension, rear integral-link suspension, and Dynamic Air Suspension with variable air-spring volume and active two-valve dampers. Five driving modes are available: Jaguar, Dynamic, Efficient, Ice & Snow, and Curated. In Dynamic mode, up to 87% of power can be sent to the rear axle.

The Type 01 is also equipped with all-wheel steering: at low speeds, the rear wheels turn by up to six degrees, while the turning circle is 37.7 feet, or about 11.5 m. Active front shutters open to cool the powertrain and brakes. At speeds above 96.3 mph, or about 155 km/h, the three-section rear spoiler can generate up to 165.3 pounds of downforce, while the car lowers by 0.59 inches.
Screens and cabin space
The cabin features a 24-inch OLED display behind the steering wheel and a seven-inch vertical central screen for controlling the media system and climate control. There is no traditional interior rear-view mirror: instead, a ClearSight Rear View display is integrated into the panoramic soundbar near the base of the windshield.
All four seats have heating and cooling, while the front seats feature 12-way adjustment. The rear seats fold in a 50:50 split, increasing cargo compartment volume from more than 15.9 to 35.3 cubic feet. Jaguar has not yet announced the Type 01's sales launch date or price.
