HBO Max and Paramount Plus to merge into one service — The Verge
HBO Max and Paramount Plus will eventually merge into a single streaming service as part of Paramount’s $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. The combined company will be called Skydance, The Verge reports.
One platform
In its announcement on the completion of the deal, Skydance said that the two platforms would gradually be merged into one service. The timeline for this process and the name of the future platform have not yet been announced. Its operations will be overseen by HBO CEO Casey Bloys.

More than 200 million subscribers
Skydance CEO David Ellison told investors in March that the merger of Paramount Plus and HBO Max would give the combined company slightly more than 200 million subscribers to direct-to-consumer services.
The single platform is expected to combine content from both services, including the series Mobland, Yellowstone, The White Lotus and House of the Dragon. According to the publication, Netflix reported 325 million subscribers in January.
