A journalist in the Rivne region was threatened with violence
In the Rivne region, law enforcement officials are investigating threats of physical violence against the editor-in-chief of a local media outlet.
According to the investigation, on September 29, the editorial office received two voice messages via Facebook. They were likely sent by a man currently serving in the military.
The messages appeared after the publication of a story about criminal proceedings concerning the illegal trafficking of contraband, in which members of the man’s family are implicated. He demanded that his children not be mentioned in journalistic reports and threatened the journalist with physical violence.
On October 2, the threats were entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 345-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigators are currently working to identify the sender of the messages and are reviewing the recordings and the motives behind his actions.
