Retail chains are preparing employee rotations in case of logistics problems involving the Dnipro River

Retail chains in Kyiv are considering various options for organizing their employees’ work in the event that logistics connections between the right and left banks of the Dnipro River deteriorate. Possible solutions include rotating employees between stores and carpooling to work.

“We are taking the current situation into account and are ready to be as flexible as possible, so we are currently considering various formats to choose the most convenient solution for employees depending on their position, responsibilities, and place of residence,” said Yana Yakymovych, HR Director at Foxtrot.

According to her, options for office workers include a hybrid work format with visits to the office two to three times a week, or a fully remote work arrangement if their job functions allow it. “Depending on how the situation in Kyiv evolves, we are also exploring the possibility of temporarily relocating office workers outside the city for the winter,” she noted.

For retail employees, the company is already preparing a rotation plan among stores so that employees do not waste extra time on commuting and traffic jams. “In particular, we are transferring employees who live on one side of the city but work on the other to stores closer to their homes,” she said.

Comfy reported that the company has made provisions for office workers to work remotely from home. As for the stores, most employees choose locations near their homes, so at this time, the issue of rotations or additional transportation is not being considered. "We are doing everything we can to ensure our employees can do their jobs without having to navigate the city," Comfy emphasized.

"Auchan Ukraine" also emphasized that they are organizing work so that store employees, as much as possible, work on the side of the city where they live. Remote work is available for positions in support teams.

“In addition, we are launching an internal service where employees can coordinate carpooling to work,” Auchan Ukraine reported.
