The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has lodged a complaint regarding criminal control over road transport in the Ivanovo Region
In the Ivanovo Region of the Russian Federation, a criminal group led by a “thief-in-law” has controlled nearly the entire passenger road transport sector for over ten years.
This is stated in a lawsuit filed by the regional prosecutor’s office, which is demanding that the assets of the criminal leader and his associates—totaling 6 billion rubles ($70 million)—be confiscated and transferred to the state. According to the investigation, the criminal organization was formed back in the 1990s and engaged in extortion, intimidation, robbery, and the forcible redistribution of spheres of economic influence; it established control over road transportation in the region in 2013.
In total, the group consists of 15 individuals who have been convicted multiple times for serious and particularly serious crimes linked to the “AUE” extremist movement, and some of them are integrated into local government. This is evident from a lawsuit filed by the Ivanovo Region Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation.
As a reminder, a plague outbreak has occurred in Russia, and there has already been a first fatality.
In Russia, nearly 200 people have been hospitalized after coming into contact with a woman who died of pneumonic plague.
Prior to this, the death of a woman from the plague was confirmed in Buryatia.
