In the Polish city of Ostrołęka, a 19-year-old student of Vocational School Complex No. 4, whom police detained after a knife attack, had an improvised explosive device in his backpack. This was stated by Poland’s National Prosecutor Dariusz Korneluk, Interia reports.

Smoke in the computer classroom

According to Korneluk, the device almost detonated. He referred to information from the district prosecutor in Ostrołęka, according to which smoke began coming from the student’s backpack at one point while he was already in the computer classroom.

The National Prosecutor said that a teacher and students threw the backpack out of the window. In his opinion, this may have prevented the detonation.
