A crisis has arisen in Britain over 50,000 refrigerators that have not been disposed of

In the United Kingdom, more than 50,000 discarded refrigerators and freezers have piled up in open-air storage areas in public places. Local authorities are unable to keep up with their disposal due to the mass closure of recycling facilities, and the situation has reached its worst in the Norfolk region, where more than 30,000 appliances have piled up.

This poses an environmental hazard, as these appliances contain toxic and climate-damaging gases that can only be safely removed at specialized facilities. Due to the shutdown of three of the ten largest British recycling plants over the past year, municipalities have been forced to set up new temporary storage facilities and limit the acceptance of scrap, demanding that the government hold manufacturers accountable.
