Hyundai begins Ioniq 3 sales in Britain from £18,495 — Autocar
Hyundai has begun sales of the electric Ioniq 3 hatchback in the United Kingdom: the entry-level version costs from £18,495, including a £3,750 government electric vehicle grant. As Autocar reports, all versions of the model have received the full amount of this support.
According to the publication, the entry-level Ioniq 3 is £3,000 cheaper than the Renault 5 Urban Range and £1,500 cheaper than the Citroën ë-C3 Urban Range. The base car has a claimed range of up to 213 miles, or around 343 km. At the same time, the most affordable trim does not have a high-mounted digital instrument display: speed and odometer readings will be shown on the central infotainment screen.
Versions and charging
The Long Range variant, with a range of up to 308 miles, or approximately 496 km, is offered from £21,995. The Premium trim, which brings back a separate instrument display, starts from £23,695.

The standard version will receive a 145 hp electric motor and will accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 9 seconds. The Long Range is equipped with a more efficient 132 hp motor. Peak charging power will be 119 kW for the Standard Range and 110 kW for the Long Range; charging the battery from 10% to 80% will take 29 and 30 minutes respectively.
Design and interior space
The Ioniq 3 is 4.15 m long and 1.51 m high, placing it between the Renault 5 and Volkswagen ID 3 in terms of dimensions. Hyundai calls its body an “aero hatchback”: the sloping roof ends in a pronounced spoiler, while the drag coefficient is 0.26. By comparison, the Renault 5 has a figure of 0.29.
Due to the sloping roofline and the absence of a front trunk, Hyundai has provided a large compartment beneath the boot floor. This increased cargo space from 322 to 441 litres. The infotainment system with a 12.9-inch screen is the first in the model range to use the Android Auto-based Pleos operating system; physical climate-control and media buttons are located below the display.
