Russia struck a residential building in Zaporizhzhia; there are casualties

Russian troops struck Zaporizhzhia, causing a fire to break out in a residential building. There are reports of casualties, though the exact number is not specified in the information provided.

 

“The enemy struck a residential building in Zaporizhzhia. A fire broke out. Preliminary reports indicate there may be injuries. We are verifying the information,” wrote Mykhailo Semikin, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

Semikin later added that two people were injured in the strike. A 63-year-old man in serious condition was taken to the hospital. A 37-year-old woman received medical attention at the scene. Rescue workers also evacuated three people from the 9th floor. They are safe and unharmed.

Emergency services are working at the site of the strike, as people may still be trapped on other floors.

“People from the 7th, 8th, and 9th floors have been rescued. Rescuers are continuing to search the building for anyone who may still be inside. Bomb disposal experts are on the scene,” Semikin wrote.

It is currently known that the number of casualties has risen to five:

  • a 63-year-old man is in critical condition; he was hospitalized with burns and blast injuries;
  • three other people—a 65-year-old man and two women, aged 66 and 37—received outpatient treatment;
  • A 35-year-old man is undergoing examination.
