A Russian strike on Pryluky claimed the life of a police veteran
Oleg Malysh, a 47-year-old police veteran, was killed in a massive Russian missile strike on Pryluky on October 7. His wife, who also serves in the police force, was seriously injured and is in the hospital, while her mother was killed.
A Russian missile strike on Pryluky in the Chernihiv region claimed the life of police veteran Oleg Malysh. He was 47 years old. Until recently, Malysh had been serving on the front lines as part of the Chernihiv Regional Police Rifle Battalion. He recently left the service due to health issues and retired.
But on October 7, a Russian missile cut his life short. “Today, an enemy missile took the life of our colleague. Oleg Malysh’s wife, who also serves in the police, was injured. The police officer is currently in the hospital in serious condition,” the Chernihiv Regional Police reported. According to law enforcement officials, Oleg Malysh’s mother-in-law was killed in the same attack. Another child from the family, a three-year-old niece, was injured.
Over 20 Years of Service in the Police
Oleg Malysh has dedicated more than two decades to working in law enforcement. He joined the police force in 2001. He began his service in the criminal investigation unit in Pryluky. He continued to work in that same city. In 2024, Malysh joined the rifle battalion of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernihiv Oblast. Together with his comrades, he took an active part in defending Ukraine against Russian troops.
Due to health issues, the veteran recently ended his service. After returning to civilian life, he remained close to his family. However, a Russian strike on Pryluky took his life. The Chernihiv Regional Police expressed their condolences to Oleg Malysh’s family and loved ones. “The Chernihiv Regional Police force extends its sincere condolences to the family of Oleg Malysh, his relatives, and loved ones,” law enforcement officials stated. Currently, the wife of the slain police officer remains in the hospital in critical condition. Her mother was killed, and her three-year-old niece was injured as a result of the Russian attack. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernihiv Oblast.
As a reminder, at least two people were killed in Kyiv as a result of a nighttime attack.
