Trump says war with Iran could end very soon — Dawn
US President Donald Trump said at a rally in Alabama that the war with Iran could end “very soon.” He also said that Washington does not see a clear party in Tehran for negotiations, Dawn reports.
According to Trump, the war will end “one way or another” and likely after the US midterm elections. The president reiterated that Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons.
Incidents near the Strait of Hormuz
Amid Trump’s statements, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported two incidents involving oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz area. The first tanker, which was leaving the strait, was hit by an unidentified projectile. A small fire broke out on board and power was lost, but the fire was extinguished and the vessel continued its voyage.
Several hours later, another crude oil tanker reported being hit by an unidentified projectile east of Oman. According to UKMTO, no casualties or environmental damage were reported, and the crew of the second vessel was unharmed. The relevant authorities are establishing the circumstances of the incidents.

Statements on a possible increase in the US presence
US Senator Chris Van Hollen accused the Trump administration of preparing to expand the American military presence in the Middle East and called on Congress to stop funding what he described as an illegal war against Iran. According to him, the US president is sending up to 10,000 more service members to the region.
His comments came amid reports of the possible deployment by the Pentagon of a third carrier strike group and additional US Marine Corps ships. At the same time, the Pentagon commissioned a study under the Meridian project on future wars and the experience of operations against Iran. The study will cover artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, directed energy, robotics, and biotechnology.
For his part, Mostafa Izadi, deputy commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said Iranian forces had made technological progress in land, air, air defense, and maritime capabilities, and spoke of future “surprises” for adversaries.
