The ministry also stressed the need to end attacks on commercial vessels, seafarers and civilian infrastructure. India called for shipping and trade through international waterways to be restored as soon as possible. Anadolu Agency notes that tensions in the region have persisted following US and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28 and Tehran’s subsequent strikes on Israeli targets and US military facilities.

According to the agency, Iran links the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to an end to hostilities, easing sanctions, unfreezing assets and Washington fulfilling its commitments.
